Synopsis[]

The Switch and Breath of the Wild were given to Jared for review. While Jared will give a spoiler-free review, there will be some minor visual spoilers in the form of armor and weapons shown. It is worth every hype it gets. The game is expansive. It has foundations from the series history. The game removes a lot of the staples that other Zelda games had. You can traverse the entire terrain. The game is you alone in this world, and allows you to explore everything. Everything is designed to encourage you to explore.

For the first time since before Ocarina of Time, there is no companion character alongside Link. It is just you going wherever you want. There are tons of distractions that players should do. Jared discusses the powers such as magnetism, stasis and bombs. There are lots of places to use these.

Shines are mini dungeons. Some are simple, and others are quite involved. The main dungeons are focused entirely on puzzles. The lack of dungeons is made up for by the hundred or so shrines. Oddly, the combat has been simplified, but there are many more options. Jared discusses the different attacks. How you go about fighting things is where the variety is.

There are a lot of weapons, you can crush enemies with rocks, or sneak in to take out camps. Fighting is very rewarding as enemies drop their shields and weapons. Each enemy also drops monster parts that you can collect. The player will always need new weapons and monster parts.

Jared discusses the cooking mechanic and their effects. One of the most addicting moments of the game is experimenting with the food. Breath of the Wild is another open world game. Jared wonders if this game adds to the open world game genre. It absolutely does.

The world has so much to do that you won't get bored. The game gives the player all the tools you need to explore. Climbing and paragliding are both very useful. Some areas are meant to be fought before other areas, but you can explore anywhere. This is the most free Zelda has been since the original.

Jared could not put the game down. The frame rate isn't perfect. Being around a lot of tall grass or fire causes issues. It doesn't hinder the experience. Any other complaints are nitpicks. Most of the voice acting is pretty great. This is the most organic open world game Jared has ever played. Jared discusses what the title of the game means. Zelda has got a lot of lenience in its reviews. However, this game earns a 10/10.

Jared informs the viewer to not play with a guide.
