10 - Super Mario 3D World - The new Mario game is really good. The difficulty kicks in towards the end.It has quality stage design and very creative stages. It's not as good as Galaxy, but it should not be overlooked.
9 - Volgarr the Viking - There's been a lot of hard NES style games. It has a lot of replayability. Lovers of Castlevania, Ghosts 'n Goblins or Dark Souls need to play this.
8 - Bioshock Infinite - The game is presented in a believable way, and Jared loves the gameplay too. Some people didn't like being able to hold two weapons, but Jared didn't mind. Also, Elizabeth is a joy to be around. The plots pretty good too.
7 - Ni No Kuni - one of the best RPG's in years. An extremely deep battling system involving monster collecting. The game is relaxing to play, and you get a lot out of it if you put in the effort. The cut scenes and music are fantastic.
6 - Rogue Legacy - this game is good and hard. It's unique leveling up system and randomly generated dungeons, make it enjoyable to play. There is a variety with every new attempt.
5 - Tearaway - Why did I buy a PlayStation Vita? For Tearaway, which is inspired by Little Big Planet. It's basically a platformer, but has a lot of charm in it as well. The camera and thumbpad gimmicks are really cool. Tearaway should be in every Vita users very small library.
4 - Fire Emblem Awakening - For a long time, this game was the best game on the 3DS. The cut scenes, art and 3D is well done. Jared likes to create his own hero. It's easy to put several dozen hours into by experimenting with multiple save files.
3 - The Last of Us - This is one of Naughty Dog's best. Combat is filled with tension, as you mostly try to avoid it. Everyone is believable and relatable - even if some of them are selfish pricks. The multiplayer is enjoyable.
2 - The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - This is a good game, and removes a lot of bad gimmicks and partners. The freedom of dungeon selection and free world exploration are its best features. It is easy and short, but is really fun.
1 - Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Jared is a monster hunter fan, but this is the game Jared enjoyed the most this year. Hunting with friends, improving armor, and new monsters everywhere kept Jared in for over 200 hours. The game is repetitive, but Jared never got bored. It's one of the best games on the Wii U and 3DS.
Jared apologizes for not playing Rayman Legends this year.
